DO YOU KNOW ABOUT SUNBURN?
Sunburn is caused by too much exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light. It’s a sign that’s you’ve been out for too long. There’s already enough damage that can be caused by UVA/ UVB rays also there are some need-to-knows.
There’s little to no way to completely avoid sun exposure. Our daily activities have us leaving the house for work, market, church, etc so we really cannot help it, not to mention, while at home UVA rays can pass through your window.
Here’s what you need to know: you may not have any control on UVA/UVB rays but you can control how much effect they have on your skin. Although there are some practices that many do which increases their tendency of having “sunburn”:
Here’s the main thing: Using lightening and whitening creams increases your chances of being sunburnt. Do you know that bleaching increases your sensitivity to the sun?
Melanin plays a major role on our skin. The major role of melanin is to protect the skin against damage from the sun. By bleaching, you are inhibiting your skins melanin production, hence, giving the sun extra power to harm you. That’s why you get “sunburn” easily.
Skin lightening creams increases your chances of getting “sunburn”.
You know the green, red, black patches across the face especially around the eyes? That’s just your skin’s way of letting you know that enough is enough. There’s good news though, although it may take time but you can Restore your “sunburnt” skin. And the better new is that you can Prevent it too.
